What is the problem with pollution? Won’t mother nature strike back and reclaim the planet?
Troy N asked:
Such hubris, to think that man could destroy this planet. He may make it uninhabitable for “man”, but the insects and animals will do fine after we are gone.

You are absolutey correct. We are not killing a planet. We are only ensuring our own end.

I agree with you 100%. Global warming is the biggest hoax in the history of the world. First Al Gore invents the internet, then he’s my weatherman, who knows what’s next.

Haven’t seen “The Happening” yet, have ya?

The planet was here long before we came and will still be here long after we’re gone.

Our planet will destroy us before we completely destroy the planet. But, why do we want to facilitate that? Call me crazy, but I want to live a long life and if I have kids, I want them to, also.
As for climate change naysayers, I’m more inclined to believe scientists rather than a bunch of corporate, political and/or religious self-serving gasbags.

Yea it will be fine but it usually takes a few million years for life to recover from a mass extinction event.
We’d be lucky if a meteor about 10km wide came and wiped us all out. That way we’d die nice and quick instead of slowly via starvation and disease like we’re setting ourselves up for now.
All the life above the surface of the earth would be wiped out then new life would evolve, but again, it would take a few million years.

Mother nature is giving us a wake up notice right now, in more ways than one! I’m not too interested in whether or not the insects survive, I would rather see mankind make it! So, more of us need to smell the roses while we are here to do it, rather than squander our children’s & Grand-children’s future! There are far too many things that we can do to help preserve this beautiful planet, we need to all pitch in & start to conserve in every way possible. You all know what you need to do, so get with it & start today!

The problem with pollution is the same problem we have with everything else today: politics.

If we devote ourselves to common sense policy which is based on scientific fact and not to doomsday predictions, we can shape a solution to meet long term goals and needs. Many people had predicted that the U.S. would be starving in the year 2000, due to droughts and other maladies brought on by global warming. Oh!, don’t forget the hole in the ozone layer that was supposed to cause us all to die. We need sensible legislation that will allow us to create efficient alternative fuels, while we switch from fossil fuels. This will take time, and we should drill for more oil now, because we will not be able to meet the energy demands of this country with alternative fuels in the next 10 years.
