Why does mother nature’s monthly visit turn me into a beast?

mother nature
erika beleza asked:

“Beast” is the best word I could think of!!

But the point is, my emotions go absolutely hay-wire every month, it’s weird! I’m a very sweet, even tempered girl, but around this time, my patience flies out the window and my temper is on fire!

Is there anything that can lessen these effects? I feel terrible the way I treat people :(
My diet is primarily fresh produce and protein. I cannot take birth control, it makes a different medicine I take less effective.

OMG! I am the same way I hate when people ask me alot of questions and mess with me around that time. Those cramps turn me into a bitch.

I usually just take an advil or something and that helps me feel better.

Unfortunately, the hormones that come along with it are the cause. You could try a birth control pill that helps with not only lessening the chance of pregnancy, but also lightens periods and all side effects. Including the beast making ability that hormones have. I’d try YAZ.

i dont know why ppl say that.. but i am totally my normal self during period too.. i have regular period and apart from my being a lil down due to cramps, all the rest is absolutely the same..! guess it has to do with ur diet… make sure u diet is good and then ur period wont hurt ur moods much,,,

There is a possibility that you have Pre-Menstrual Disphoric Disorder. It’s a fancy word for extreme PMS. It can cause depression and other mental problems during menstruation. Talk to your doctor. There are new birth control pills that are shown to lessen the mental symptoms of PMS and PMDD. You may also have an underlying depression or other condition that is amplified by the hormonal changes during menstruation. If it is affecting your life and your relationships with people, take it seriously and talk to your doctor. No point in suffering through it just because you’re a woman. Get treated.

Birth control pills such as Yaz or Yasmin could help regulate your hormones, as well as antidepressants. You may want to start out by just exercising and cutting out sodium, sugar, and caffeine from your diet. You should talk to your doctor, because if it’s severe enough, medication is your best option.

Also, you may have a severe form of PMS called PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) that you can learn about here:
